Dibels

"The Logan City School District requires all elementary schools to administer the DIBELS Assessment for Reading three times a year. The DIBELS® measures were specifically designed to assess the five early literacy components: Phonological Awareness, Alphabetic Principle, Vocabulary, Comprehension, and Fluency with Connected Text. The DIBELS® measures link together to form an assessment system of early literacy development that allows educators to readily and reliably determine student progress. School personnel can utilize the DIBELS Data System reports to make instructional decisions about children's reading performance."

PTA President Message

Dear Parents,
February is going to be a great month!  We are looking forward to having USU come and show us Science Experiments.  You will then have the opportunity to make a Science Project yourself at home.  Make a poster explaining what you did and display it at the Science Fair in March! I want to thank Amy Hochberg and USU for all of their hard work putting this together.  We hope that you can all come and participate.  Show your child that there are many things to learn and explore!
Our next activity in February is already causing a buzz around the school.  The Valentines Tea is almost here.  It will be on Valentines Day and is a 50's theme.  Feel free to wear clothing from that era.  We are asking that you discuss manners with your child this month.  It is so important!
Some projects that we have been working on may not get finished this year.  The main one is 400 East and 100 South street.  It is taking the city longer than expected to do all of their testing.  In the mean time, I would propose that we put together a parent volunteer crossing system.  If you would be interested to volunteer in helping kids cross the street in the morning or after school, please sign up on the PTA office door. We would need you there 20 min. before or after school.  You can do it however often you would like.  I will have a calendar with a.m. and p.m. on each day and just sign up for the time that works for you.  Please help all of the children have a safe way to school.  If you sign up, please make sure to come!
Thank you for all of your support!
                Thanks again,
 Ivie Foster
      PTA President

Boxtops

Keep up the good work!!
Keep turning in Box Tops! You are doing great. You can turn them in loose or on the box top collection sheets. Either way is great. We are keeping track of how many each class turns in. The class with the most box tops turned in will get an ice cream party at the end of the year!

Principal Message

Dear Valentine’s,
We LOVE planning your student’s education with you.  We will CELEBRATE LEARNING at the SEP (Student Education Plan) Conference’s on February 16th and 17th.  Each student can celebrate his or her academic growth and make plans to finish strong.  After all, Spring Break is just eight weeks away and then testing will begin.
Along with the Book Fair, plan to visit some of the INFORMATION BOOTHS designed to give you ideas regarding academics, behavior, student grade information and the newly created Wilson Blog.
Please help us keep our CHILDREN SAFE by adhering to the following guidelines;
·         Please enter and exit the parking lot through the correct driveway.
-Entrance to the parking lot is on 500 East.
-Exit the parking lot on 100 South.
·         Buses are in the parking lot from 8:45 am until 9:15 and again from 3:15 until 3:45 pm.
They are the only vehicles that should be dropping off and picking up in the parking lot during those times.
RED AIR DAYS--  We monitor the air quality right before lunch on the 2.5 levels.  If the levels are safe, we send the children outside.  We will continue to follow this practice.

Heart felt appreciation,
Xoxoxo Miss Sundee

School Community Council

Wilson’s School Community Council meeting will be on Tuesday, February 23, 2011 at 3:45 p.m.  The agenda for the meeting will be posted in the office prior to the meeting for those interested in attending.

2010-2011 Yearbooks

Our yearbooks will be in color this year. Yearbook purchase deadline is February 9th. The cost is $11. Orders coming after that date will cost $13. Our cover for the yearbook was designed by Brinlee Williams and Tori Craner.

Valentine's Tea

The Valentine’s Tea this year will be on February 14th. Our theme this year is “Rock them with your Manners!”—kind of a 50’s theme. Before the Tea, the students will be able to view a DVD that reviews some basic manners and then they get to practice on Valentine’s Day. Students are encouraged to wear their best clothes or if they have something from the 50’s that is welcome also.

We would like to thank the following businesses for giving us their products at a discount—Great Harvest Bread, the Candy Kitchen store, and Walmart. We so appreciate community businesses that are in support of our schools!
