Dear Valentines,

We LOVE planning your student’s education with you.  We will CELEBRATE LEARNING at the SEP (Student Education Plan) Conferences on February 15^th and 16^th. 

Each student can celebrate his or her academic growth and make plans to finish strong.  After all, Spring Break is just eight weeks away and then testing will begin.

PTA President Message:

February Fun!

We have a lot of things going this month at Wilson Elementary!  One of my favorite events of the school year is the Valentine’s Tea!  This year, the Tea will be held right on Valentine’s Day, February 14^th.  Remember to wear your best dress and use your best manners!  Right along with the Tea is the Science Fair!  Amy Hochberg has done such an incredible job preparing for the Science Fair this year and I encourage those of you who can to participate. 

Also, Parent Teacher Conferences will be going on.  Now is a great time for open communication between parents, students and teachers. February 20^th is Presidents Day and it is an election year for the United States.  This creates an opportunity to discuss how the United States is governed and the process of electing a President.  If February goes by quick … it will be March before we know it! 

Reminder, PTA board meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month, except this month it will be February 8^th at 4:10 in the Teachers Lounge.  Thanks to all the volunteers that keep our school and PTA successful!

2011-2012 Yearbook:

Our yearbooks will be in color this year.  Yearbook purchase deadline is February 9^th.  The cost is $11.  Orders coming after that date will cost $13.  Our front cover for the yearbook was designed by Rachel Anderson and Brookee Nyman.  The back cover was designed by EmilyAnn Jim and Alondra Antonio.

February 10 – No School – SEP Preparation

February 14 – Valentine’s Day & Tea

February 15 – SEP Conferences 4-8 pm – Science Fair in Auditorium

February 16 – ½ Day School - Dismiss @ 1    - No Kindergarten – SEP Conferences   2-8 pm

February 17 - No School

February 20 – No School – Presidents Day

February 23 – SCC meeting @ 4 pm

March 5-8 – Kindergarten Registration

SEP Conferences Scheduling:

Reminder - SEP Conferences online scheduling is open NOW through Saturday, February 4 until midnight. Please refer to the instruction sheet that was sent home. After February 4 any unscheduled students will be given a time by their teacher.

Host Family Needed ASAP:

Host a foreign exchange student with CIEE!  If you have ever been interested in hosting we currently have and amazing Thai boy in need of a new host family.  He loves music, drama, singing, and plays the piano.  He is currently going to Mountain Crest High School.  He has lots of friends and has great grades.  He is in the USA until the end of the school year in May, when he returns home to Thailand.  Please contact Pamla Barrett, his CIEE local coordinator, for more information at (801)663-6132 and go to www.ciee.org/highschool to start an application.
